Pakistan's honor at NObel Laureates Conference in Germany, 2009

It was a matter of pride and honour for Pakistan to have earned much appreciation and good name at the prestigious Nobel Laureates Conference in Lindau, Germany this year, 2009 in the field of Chemistry. The Lindau Meetings are a global event in which Nobel Laureates are brought together with young researchers from 60 countries. It is attended by EU Presidents, countesses, ministers from all over the world, students, Nobel Laureates and the world media. I am honored that I was part of a group of six students from Pakistan who did very well and I was also selected from among 600 world participants to feature in a documentary on climate change by the well-known UK based science journal, "Nature". It's trailer is available here.

However, I was very sad to hear that this process by the HEC and Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission of sending Pakistani students to this event may be discontinued. It's a pity because this is one of the few forums where Pakistanis are excelling, being the top most not only among Muslim countries but overtaking many western nations as well. On the other hand, India is doing everything to become it's global partner. There is also no representation of the Pakistani media there, because it simply does not know about Pakistan's participation in the meeting.I hope someone will take notice of the immense talent Pakistan has to offer and make use of it in places such as this.
